I’ve been hairdressing since 1989 and my passion for this incredible industry remains constant; if anything it’s increased as we’re experiencing a golden age of product performance and personal creativity. The story behind Sarai is that in 2005 I took ownership of a small hair salon, relaunching it as Sarai Hair and Beauty in 2006. In 2014 we expanded into much larger premises, becoming a deluxe destination hair and beauty salon in every sense. I felt the salon needed to evolve and change with the times. I wanted to bring London levels of service and sophistication to Crowthorne, blended with a calm and friendly atmosphere. I’m confident that I’ve achieved that goal.
I’m always experimenting with different ways to grow and expand the business in order to ensure ongoing success and to stay current and on trend. Excellent customer service is a cornerstone of our business as is our focus on the complete client journey, from friendly greeting to a proper farewell. This is the criteria the whole team is expected to meet.
I recognise that my staff spend a lot of time at work, consequently I’ve created a working environment that motivates and inspires them, powers their passion, and leads to improved loyalty. My commitment as an employer boosts personal progression, job satisfaction and ultimately elevates ‘just a job’ into a career to be proud of.
Sharing my hairdressing and presentation skills is a joy, and I love learning from others as it strengthens everyone’s knowledge and makes for a tight knit and trusting team. I’m a qualified NVQ assessor, and get a real buzz from bringing out the best in each team member. My main inspiration is my team, they’re talented, motivated, caring and creative.
I love Sarai, my team and our clients, most of whom have been with me since the beginning. We’re like one big happy family.
In 2019 I was part of the Fellowship for British Hairdressing, Barber Project Team.
I was recognised as one of England’s 100 top employers for apprenticeships and training. I was singled out for this accolade because of my enormous commitment to training and my workforce as well as developing truly effective apprenticeship schemes.
From 2012 – 2020 inclusive I was the recipient of a PHAB Service Star, which recognises and celebrates the professional business and customer care policies of those in the hair and beauty industry.
Among my proudest achievements to date is winning the Salon Business Award, Best Local Salon, Business Salon and Best Team, Nationally and also being shortlisted for the prestigious British Hairdressing Business Awards in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 in both the Salon Design and Salon of the Year categories. We are currently Finalist for The Creative Head Awards, Best Local Salon.
My maxim: Choose a job you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life!
