Sarai Hair and Beauty named as a finalist for three awards at HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards

Crowthorne salon shortlisted as one of the best hairdressing businesses in the country at national awards.

Sarai Hair and Beauty in Crowthorne has been named as a finalist in the Salon of the Year 1 category at the British Hairdressing Business Awards, sponsored by Salon Services and hosted by Hairdressers Journal International. Sarai Hair and Beauty’s very own Lisa Welsher has also been nominated for Manager of the Year and Natalie Newton is up for Salon Stylist of the Year.

The Awards, which are now in their 19th year, seek to find and celebrate the very best salon businesses in the country – an industry which contributes an estimated £7bn to the British economy and one which employs more than 300,000 people.

With 17 categories celebrating all aspects of the business side of hair, the awards are a proven platform for raising a salon’s profile. Even finalising in one of the prestigious categories marks a business out as one of the finest providers in the country; a win catapults them to the very top, providing unrivalled recognition that they are at the pinnacle of their profession and raising their profile to give an edge over competitors.

The Salon of the Year 1 category seeks to recognise single salons with an annual turnover of more than £350k who are judged to have a forward-thinking and profitable business, inspiring marketing, strong customer relations and an engaged and inspiring team in place. The Salon Stylist of the Year category celebrates those team members who go above and beyond to bring client satisfaction, both in terms of skill but also customer service and a passion to grow and develop. The third award, Salon Manager of the Year, celebrates those that manage, inspire and motivate a salon or individual and is backed up not just by an award entry, but by a follow-up gruelling panel interview with a team of business experts.

Says HJ’s Executive Director, Jayne Lewis-Orr: “Promoting professionalism, innovation and excellence, the British Hairdressing Business Awards recognise those individuals and teams who work tirelessly to raise the profile and stature of this industry, and make it one of which we can all be proud.

She adds: “The Salon of the Year category is all about celebrating those salons that have a proven business plan in place and the results to prove it. Beyond that, it’s about salons that set the gold standard in terms of best practice for teamwork, marketing, training and customer care. In short, it’s about best-in-class behavior that gets results. It goes without saying that the manager is a pivotal role in a salon, but the difference between a good one and a great one is huge. Stylists might have technical skill, but the ones that make a real contribution are those with a passion for customer care, a desire to grow and develop and the motivation to contribute to the wider salon business. That’s what this category seeks to recognise.”

Salon owner Sarah Morrissey comments: “It’s an honour to be named as a finalist in these three competitive categories and we’re proud of the whole team for helping us get here. We strive to be the very best at what we do in every area of the salon business and just making this shortlist says that we’re doing that – and doing it well. I’m extremely proud of Natalie and Lisa for their incredible achievements and can’t wait to celebrate on the night.”

The awards take place in London on Monday 11 September.
